Breakfast with Downsy and Claire

ABOUT DOWNSY:

After lauching Kick FM 7 year's ago Downsy is back with a new sound to Breakfast. Having been on the air since the age of 17 on stations all over the UK, he's come back to West Berkshire a little older and wiser (OK well older anyway) but he's still just as cheeky !

FULL NAME:  Ian Clayton Downs

FAVOURITE FOOD:  Got to be a Sunday Roast .... Lamb rocks my world, has to be with mint sauce though ... and a slice of bread to mop up after!
 
FAVOURITE TV PROGRAMME:  Top Gear ! Seriously the best programme on telly. I quite like the docco channels too - nothing better than a couple of hours listening to beardy men talking about why the Titanic REALLY sank .... I also like Hollyoaks but don't tell anyone.

FAVOURITE SPORT:  Hmmm ... although after leaving school I spent a year training to be a PE teacher, sport isn't really something I partake in these days, I've tried the gym but get bored, quite like swimming but most of my exercise comes from walking Cassie T. Dog ! I support Manchester United as my Dad is from there and he threatened to drown me if I didn't.

FAVOURITE FILM:  Stand By Me. A brilliant tale of growing up, starring a young River Phoenix - such a talent. Such a waste. I love brit flicks too and have an annual watch of Love Actually with my mate Dave to get us in the Christmas Spirit !

FAVOURITE COLOUR:  Red.

FAVOURITE THING ABOUT WEST BERKSHIRE:  All of the fantastic dog walks there are, from Victoria Park to Watership Down ... Cassie and I love exploring them ... generally the ones that have pubs near to them are our favourites.
 
THREE THINGS YOU ENJOY DOING IN YOUR SPARE TIME:  I'm a big history buff, I love reading about or visiting places of Historic interest. I'm particularly interested in the Industrial Revolution and am a bit of a freak when it comes to Isambard Kingdom Brunel ... there isn't much I don't know about that man! I play the piano and the drums which is a great for getting rid of stress, but most of my spare time is spent with my mates - I'm lucky to have a really close group of friends who all look out for me. (Especially when I've had too much cider.)

THE CELEBRITY I WOULD MOST LIKE TO INVITE ROUND FOR DINNER WOULD BE:  Isambard Kingdom Brunel - he was such an amazing man and changed the world in his lifetime. I'd also get him to re-design my kitchen whilst he was there ...

MY MOST EMBARRASSING MOMENT WAS:  Sending a "naughty" text to my partners Dad instead of them ... opps.

THE BEST THING ABOUT WORKING AT KICK FM IS: Well it's certainly not the money ! Seriously though, it's great to work with such a commited and enthusiastic team. Plus I get to sit, play records and talk to you lot all day ... is there a better job in the world ?

MY PROUDEST MOMENT WAS: Launching Kick FM back in May 2000. My dad and my partner were looking though one window in tears, and the rest of West Berkshire's great and good were peering in through the other ... I was the first presenter on air to speak ... wow ... I was so nervous ... it's a moment I'll never forget.
